The Derby at Epsom Downs Racecourse

Project Brief

2021 brought a new sponsor – Cazoo – and a revised event for the Epsom Derby, with just 4000 race goers on site as part of the Covid pandemic reopening. We worked with the team at the racecourse to help enhance the new areas for the event – a public restaurant in a suite usually used as private hospitality, changes to the layout and access and egress for the public, a more open and spaced out Derby Village area and a rebranded entrance way. Plus the necessary social distance signage and reminders to keep everyone safe.

Our work for the Epsom Derby

Big events like Derby Day involve such a variety of work and lets us flex our creative muscle! For this years’ Epsom Derby we:

used the Jockey Club brand and current marketing campaigns to rebrand the main entrance foyer, creating the artwork, producing and installing the branding.
worked with the operations team to design a fresh new vinyl wrap wallpaper to transform the old-fashioned wooden features around the main grandstand hospitality suites in to a fresher, modern space.
produced and installed the ‘Derby Village’ branding, helping to bring colour and atmosphere to the temporary bar and lawn areas created for the meeting, including a correx clad archway, vinyl wraps and foamex panels and temporary bar cladding.
fixed various partner branding around the racecourse itself, building temporary frames and working with other contractors so the area looked uniform.
worked with the racecourse team to plan and execute the best possible race goer ingress and egress experience in this years amended circumstances, looking at the car parking and pedestrian signage and positioning required to ensure clarity and safety for everyone.
installed promotional signage around the track and grandstands for the Qipco British Champions Series.
designed, produced and installed lots of little details that enhanced the running of the day overall – hand sanitizer unit wraps, tariff and menu boards for catering, rebranding search tables, branding for the hospitality suites, feature walls and much more!
